Our contract or lease agreement with you is basically the same as any tenancy you would have in the private rental market, with some special clauses. These special clauses, stated in ‘Section 11of the lease agreement ’, clearly outline your obligations to ensure that you maintain your eligibility for housing with M.A.T.C.H. throughout your tenancy.
The majority of M.A.T.C.H. properties are leased under the Community Rent Scheme. In this program we have 193 properties, most of which are rented from the private market. M.A.T.C.H. has a lease agreement with the agent/owner for the property and we then lease this property to you.
This means all issues relating to your tenancy, including rent and repairs and maintenance are to be dealt with through M.A.T.C.H. We are responsible for ensuring all property matters are dealt with, without you needing to deal directly with the owner.
Our agreement with you is governed by the Residential Tenancies Act, 1994. Details of this are in the booklet “Renting in Queensland” (form 17a) or available from here.
If you are in a unit, flat or townhouse, you may have to abide by Body Corporate By-laws.
